FAQ

Answers to Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

  • What brand of paint do you recommend?

For interior painting we like to use Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams Paints. With years of experience we know which paints are best suited for each substrate and how the area is going to be used. For example, if you have a highly active home and need your walls to be washable, vs. if you are preparing your home for sale and need a quick refresh. Or, if we are we painting your stairs, we know which paints have the durability required for that purpose. We will always recommend the best paint to meet your budget and need.

  • How long will my project take?

During the quote process we will provide you with an estimate of how long the project will take and a scheduled start date and time. We pride ourselves on keeping to schedules but if a problem would arise, we will clearly communicate the changes with you.

  • Tell me about your team of painters.

Our team of painters is growing along with our business. Each painter is fully vetted and trained in the skills needed to properly paint your home. We are primarily a female team of painters who pay special attention to your home and how it will be cared for.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

We sure are! We’re fully licensed as a Pennsylvania Contractor PA065435 and insured, and we carry workers compensation insurance for our employees.

  • Are your color consults free?

Yes, they are. During the initial consultation we will review color possibilities and recommendations with you. We have years of experience with color and stay up to date with the latest trends as well as traditional choices. Our goal is to help you select a color you will love! We will let you know if we feel your choice is one you may regret but, in the end, it is your home and your choice. We are here to help guide you.

  • How long does kitchen cabinet refinishing take?

From start to finish, typically two weeks. We pick up your doors on a Monday and take them to our shop to be prepped and sprayed. The following week we return to your home and prepare all of the fames and boxes to be sprayed. This process takes on average two to three days. We return again on Friday and install your doors. We have the ability to complete kitchens in a shorter timeframe but have found this system works best not only us but for you as well. Feel free to ask us about other options.

  • What type of paint do you use for kitchen cabinets?

Our favorite brand is ICRO, which is an Italian paint formulated specifically for cabinetry. It is a water-based paint; however, it also contains a catalyst that produces an extremely durable finish. Some say it exceeds Lacquers and conversion varnish in its ability to resist a multitude of environmental conditions in the kitchen.

We begin by applying two coats of primer to a properly cleaned and sanded surface. This achieves excellent adhesion and stain blocking, resulting in a beautiful and consistent final finish.

  • Do you spray the cabinets or use a brush and roller?

We spray our paint in order to achieve a beautiful factory finish that is smooth as butter. Only in rare circumstance would we brush and roll, and if that was required, we would fully explain the reasons for that choice in advance.
